Κοσμάς Εμμόγλου – Circus Project
Η λέξη τσίρκο μας φέρνει στο μυαλό εικόνες από ζογκλέρ, θηριοδαμαστές, κλόουν, ακροβάτες και γενικά από ανθρώπους που μας διασκεδάζουν δείχνοντάς μας της ικανότητές τους κάτω από μία τεράστια σκηνή. Θυμάμαι μικρός όταν είχε έρθει ένα τσίρκο στην γειτονιά μου, που τότε επιτρεπόταν τα ζώα, μου τράβηξε πολύ το ενδιαφέρον. Είχε ελέφαντες. Έτσι μπήκα κρυφά, τους χάιδεψα και μου έκανε τρομερή εντύπωση στα παιδικά μου μάτια το πόσο τραχύ ήταν το δέρμα τους και το ότι ήταν πιασμένοι με μια αλυσίδα από το πόδι τους. Τα σημερινά τσίρκα δεν χρησιμοποιούν πλέον ζώα, αλλά αποτελούνται καθαρά από ανθρώπινο δυναμικό. Η επαφή μου ξεκίνησε όταν πέρασα κοντά απο ένα τσίρκο και σκέφτηκα ότι είναι ένα ενδιαφέρον θέμα για μένα. Την ίδια μέρα πήγα και προσπάθησα να συνεννοηθώ μαζί τους, γιατί αυτοί δεν γνώριζαν Ελληνικά και εγώ Αγγλικά, αλλά τελικά με την γλώσσα του σώματος τα καταφέραμε και έτσι φωτογράφισα κάποια πορτρέτα σαν αυτά που ακολουθούν. Οι φωτογραφίες είναι από δύο τσίρκα που επισκέφτηκα. Το πρότζεκτ δεν έχει ολοκληρωθεί, διότι λόγω του κορονοιου σταμάτησαν να έρχονται.

Ο Kοσμάς Εμμόγλου γεννηθηκε στη Θεσσαλονίκη το 1973. Ασχολείται με τη φωτογραφία απ’ο το 2005. Έχει παρακολουθήσει μαθήματα στις σχολε1 f 14, Stereosis και klikers Θέρμης . Είναι μέλος του Φωτογραφικού Κέντρου Θεσσαλονίκης και έχει συμμετάσχει στις εκθέσεις “Beyond face”, Contrast festival, κ.ά.
Kosmas Emmoglou – Circus Project
The word circus reminds us pictures of jugglers, tamers, clowns, acrobats and generally people who entertain us using their skills under a huge tent. As I can remember when I was a little kid a circus had arrived to my neighborhood. Animals were not forbidden at old times so I thought it would be very interesting for me. There were some elephants so I went close secretly and touched them. It seemed to me very impressive how rough their skin was and the fact that they remained tied with a chain on their foot.
Nowadays, at circuses work only men and women, not animals. My contact with a circus began when I approached one and I thought that would be a new interesting project for me. I first tried to communicate with the people of the circus but this was difficult because they didn’t speak Greek and I didn’t speak English so I managed this by using the body language. The result was some portraits as the following. The photos were taken from two different circuses. Because of the Covid-19 circuses stopped their performances so the project remained unfinished.
Bio
Kosmas Emmoglou was borned in Thessaloniki Greece in 1973. He is occupied with photography since 2005. He had attended lessons to F-14, STEREOSIS and KLIKERS OF THERMI schools of photography. He is a member of Photographic Center of Thessaloniki and he has taken place to many excibitions like “BEYOND FACE”, CONTRAST FESTIVAL, K.O.TH UNDERGROUND, THIMOMENOI etc.
