Μαρία Δρακάκη – Φωτογράμματα μιας ζωής …
Τα φωτογράμματα, αποτελούν δημιουργήματα μιας τεχνικής σκοτεινού Θαλάμου, χωρίς τη διαμεσολάβηση φωτογραφικής μηχανής. Είναι τυπώματα μοναδικά, κάτι σαν πολλαπλές εκτυπώσεις της σκιάς του αντικειμένου. Μέσα από τα φωτογράμματα «αντικρίζω» ιβίσκους να χορεύουν, ξύλινα αερόστατα – περιτριγυρισμένα από σπόρους ιπτάμενους. Εκεί, τα μικρότερα αντικείμενα γίνονται σπουδαία και μαζί τους στροβιλίζομαι σαν σε ένα όνειρο… Για μένα συνιστούν μέρος όχι μόνο της καθημερινότητάς μου, καθώς είναι ως φωτογραφήματα μέρος της επαγγελματικής μου ενασχόλησης αλλά και του βαθύτερου γίγνεσθαί μου. Είναι καρπός μιας βαθιάς και συνεχούς πολύχρονης δουλειάς καθώς αποτελούν την ενασχόλησή μου, τα τελευταία 20 χρόνια. Είμαι τόσο ταυτισμένη μαζί τους που φοβάμαι ότι έχω χάσει πλέον την αντικειμενικότητα των έργων μου.
Σας προσκαλώ λοιπόν να ταξιδέψετε μέσα στον κόσμο τους, να αφεθείτε για λίγο στην ονειρική τους διάσταση και στη φωτοχυσία που αναδύεται μέσα από αυτά…

Η Μαρία Δρακάκη γεννήθηκε κ μεγάλωσε στην Πάρο, όπου ζει ως σήμερα. Με καταγωγή από την όμορφη Κρήτη, η οικογένεια της βρέθηκε στην Πάρο αρχές του 18αιώνα. Συχνά αναφέρει πώς η μοναδικότητα του νησιού μετουσιώνεται στις φωτογραφίες της. Φωτογράφος και δασκάλα, σπούδασε στη Ακαδημία LEICA. Μια ακτιβιστής και κοινωνικά συνειδητή καλλιτέχνης, ξεκίνησε την καριέρα της ως φωτογράφος ειδήσεων, μετατρέποντας αργότερα το δραματικό δέλεαρ της καθαρής εικόνας σε ασπρόμαυρο. Εκτός από τις ομαδικές της εκθέσεις στην Ακαδημία LEICA ,παρουσιάστηκε στο νησί της Σερίφου η έκθεση “Ορυχεία”, ακολούθησε μια εντυπωσιακή ατομική έκθεση με τίτλο “Με όχημα τον Χρόνο” με μεταλλικά τυπώματα. Ταξιδεύοντας δυο φορές στο Κιότο της Ιαπωνίας δημιουργεί την δεύτερη ατομική της έκθεση “Kyoto-One month Neighborhood” και αργότερα την ” Μικρή Αναδρομική”. Συμμετείχε στο 1ο κ 2ο διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Φωτογραφίας Photoshere Πάρος- Πάτμος και στο διεθνές Festival Pil’ours” στην Γαλλία ενώ καλείτε να κάνει την φωτογραφική επιμέλεια στο 3ο διεθνές Φεστιβάλ φωτογραφίας Photoshere .Μετά την έκδοση του βιβλίου της, το 2021, « Φωτογράμματα μιας ζωής» συμμετέχει στην ομαδική έκθεση της Paros Art Gallery. Φωτογραφίζει την εκπληκτική κινηματογράφηση με θέμα την Μαντώ Μαυρογένους και τίτλο «La Bella Greca ή ότι απέμεινε». Τέλος, συμμετέχει στις ομαδικές εκθέσεις στην Blank Wall Gallery, Αθήνα, και στην “The Art of Social Media” στην Βασιλική του Αγίου Μάρκου στην Κρήτη. Τα τελευταία δέκα χρόνια διδάσκει Α/Μ φωτογραφία στην σχολή Hellenic International Studies in the Arts (HISA), Paros και ασχολείται παράλληλα με την αρχαία “τέχνη” της μελισσοκομίας.

Maria Drakaki – Photograms of a lifetime…
Photograms are the creations of a darkroom technique, without the use of any camera. They are unique prints, like multiple impressions of the shadow of an object. Through photograms, I “see” hibiscuses dancing, wooden air balloons surrounded by flying seeds. There, the smallest objects become great, and I swirl with them as in a dream… To me, they are not just part of my daily life, considering that as photograms they are part of my professional occupation as well as my inner nature. They are the fruit of profound and continuous work, as l have been involved with them for the last 20 years. I have become so identified with them that I am afraid that I have lost any objectivity concerning my work.
I invite you, then, to travel to their world, to surrender for a while to their dream dimension and the light shed through them…

Maria Drakaki was born and raised in Paros, she lives there still. With roots in the beautiful Crete, her family has been found on Paros since the 18th century. Often notes how the island’s unique qualities inform her work. A professional photographer and teacher, she studied at the prestigious LEICA Academy of Athens. By nature an activist and socially conscious artist, she began her career as a news photographer, but later turned to the dramatic lure of the pure image in black and white. In addition to group exhibitions at the LEICA Academy, her exhibit “Ore Mines” was presented on the island of Serifos, followed by an impressive solo exhibition entitled “On the Vehicle of Time” with metallic prints. Traveling twice to Kyoto, Japan, she created her second solo exhibition, “Kyoto-One Month Neighborhood”, and later, “Little Retrospective”. She also participated in the 1st & 2nd Photosphere in Patmos, Greece, and at the International Festival Pil’ours at Saint Gilles Croix de Vie, France. She is invited to do the Exhibition Curating at the 3rd International Photoshere Festival. .After the publication of her book, in 2021, “Photographs of a Life” participates in the group exhibition of Paros Art Gallery. She photographs the amazing film “La Bella Greca or what is left”. Finally, she participates in group exhibitions at the Blank Wall Gallery, Athens, and at “The Art of Social Media” in the Basilica of St. Mark, Crete (with additional distinction from the jury). For the last ten years, she has taught black and white photography and digital imaging at Hellenic International Studies in the Arts (HISA) on Paros. When not in the darkroom or exploring the world for images, Maria Drakaki can be found in her apiary, practicing the ancient occupation of beekeeping.
