WOMENPHOTOGR, the first community in Greece dedicated to female, LGBT+ and non-binary photographers is organizing a photography competition and online exhibition, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, March 8th, a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.

The exhibition will be contributing to the discussion about women’s rights and the rise of the #metoo movement in Greece.

WOMANHOOD IS exhibition is encouraging the work of Diotima – Centre for Research on Women’s Issues.

We are inviting our WOMENPHOTOGR community members to create and share a participatory visual story on the theme of womanhood. The selected images will be curated in an online exhibition and featured on our Instagram, Facebook pages and our website, from March 1st and until March 10th 2021 and onwards.

Explore what womanhood means to you. Submit one image to depict your view on femininity and/or possible misconceptions of it. We are looking for non-stereotypical images of femininity and interpretations which escape conservatism.

Duration of competition: 5-20/2/2021

How to participate:

Submit only one image and define what womanhood is according to your view. The file should be in jpeg, 1200px on the long side along with an explanatory statement – message about the image and a short bio plus your social media handle. Please do not watermark the image, your name will be mentioned.

The texts should be brief and written in Greek and English and not exceed 100 words in total. Send the files via wetrasfer to greekwomenphoto@gmail.com by February 20th. Submissions received incomplete or after the deadline will, unfortunately, not be considered.

There is no fee, it is free to enter.

Eligibility: Adult, Female, LGBT+ and non-binary photographers living permanently or temporarily in Greece.

The image can be new or not older than 2 years.

We welcome color and b/w images and all photography genres (portrait, documentary etc) as long as they abide to ethical standards and do not violate the terms and conditions.

Due to the expected volume of applications, we will be able to contact only the photographers with winning images. For more information and clarifications, feel free to contact us: greekwomenphoto@gmail.com
