Open call του The Curated Fridge Άνοιξη 2021
Η ιδέα πίσω από το έργο «The Curated Fridge», πνευματικού παιδιού του Γιώργου Ευθυμιάδη, είναι να γιορτάζει την καλλιτεχνική φωτογραφία και να συνδέει φωτογράφους από όλο τον κόσμο. Υπάρχει ένας φιλοξενούμενος επιμελητής (refrigrecurator) για κάθε έκθεση και όλες οι μεγάλες αποφάσεις λαμβάνονται πάνω από μια κούπα καφέ με κέικ ή κρασί με τάπας, ανάλογα με τη διάθεση!

Ανοιχτό κάλεσμα για το The Curated Fridge, Άνοιξη 2021 με refrigrecurators τους πολυτάλαντους Jon Feinstein και Roula Seikaly, από το Humble Arts Foundation!
Η Roula Seikaly είναι Αμερικανίδα παλαιστινιακής καταγωγής, ανεξάρτητη επιμελήτρια και συγγραφέας, και Αρχισυντάκτρια και Συν-Επιμελήτρια Διευθύντρια στο Humble Arts Foundation. Έχει επιμεληθεί εκθέσεις στα SF Camerawork και SOMArts (San Francisco), στην Axis Gallery (Sacramento), στο Filter Photo Festival (Chicago), στο CPAC (Denver), στην Blue Sky Gallery (Portland), and στο Utah Museum of Fine Arts.
Τα κειμένά της δημοσιεύονται εικονικά και σε έντυπη μορφή στα Hyperallergic, Photograph, BOMB, Afterimage, Aperture, Strange Fire Collective, και KQED Arts.
Ο Jon Feinstein είναι Εβραίος-Αμερικανός φωτογράφος, επιμελητής, συγγραφέας, συνιδρυτής του Humble Arts Foundation, Διευθυντής Περιεχομένου στο The Luupe και Συνήγορος του Καλλιτέχνη για την Olu Company. Θέμα: “Μελέτες Διασποράς”
Η διασπορά περιγράφει διάσπαρτους πληθυσμούς των οποίων η προέλευση βρίσκεται σε ξεχωριστές γεωγραφικές περιοχές, διασκορπισμένες από τα αυτόχθονα εδάφη τους. Ιστορικά, και μέχρι σήμερα, πλαισιώνει τόσο τον εβραϊκό λαό που διαφεύγει των διώξεων σε ολόκληρη την Ευρώπη και πέραν αυτής, όσο και τους ανθρώπους αφρικανικής καταγωγής που εκτοπίστηκαν τραυματικά από το διατλαντικό δουλεμπόριο. Επεκτείνεται επίσης στους Παλαιστίνιους το 1948 και το 1967, τους ιθαγενείς Αμερικανούς, τους Τούτσι Ρουαντέζους που διαφεύγουν από τη γενοκτονία, τους Αρμένιους, τους Ροχίνγκια στη Μιανμάρ και αμέτρητους άλλους λαούς.
Η διασπορά μπορεί επίσης να πάρει ένα ευρύτερο νόημα, δείχνοντας τους μυριάδες τρόποι διασποράς που προκαλούν πολιτιστικές αλλαγές, τους ανθρώπους που διατηρούν κληρονομιά, χαρά και παράδοση παρά τη διασπορά και το τραύμα και την πολυπλοκότητα της ταύτισης με μια “πατρίδα”, ζώντας έξω από αυτήν.
Για αυτήν την ανοιχτή πρόσκληση, θα θέλαμε να δούμε εργασίες που ανταποκρίνονται σε αυτές τις πολλές έννοιες και εμπειρίες.
Κατευθυντήριες γραμμές:
* Ανοιχτό σε όλους τους φωτογράφους παγκοσμίως, ερασιτέχνες και επαγγελματίες. Όλα τα μέσα είναι αποδεκτά.
* Μπορείτε να υποβάλετε έως και 5 εικόνες. Όπως πάντα, η υποβολή είναι ΔΩΡΕΑΝ!
* Οι αποδεκτές εικόνες θα αναρτηθούν στην ιστοσελίδα του The Curated Fridge και στα μέσα κοινωνικής δικτύωσης.
*Στείλτε με email τα jpgs των υποβληθέντων αρχείων στη διεύθυνση: thecuratedfridge_at_gmail_dot_com
* Προδιαγραφές εικόνας: 1280 στη μακρύτερη πλευρά, 72 ppi, sRGB, .jpg
* Ονομάστε τα .jpgs σας με αυτόν τον τρόπο: Mary_Jones_1, Mary_Jones_2 κλπ…
* Παρακαλούμε να μην στέλνετε .zip αρχεία
* Τέλος, συμπεριλάβετε το όνομα, το email, τον ιστότοπο και τη το λογαριασμό σας στο Instagram, ακολουθώντας το παρακάτω παράδειγμα (με αυτόν τον τρόπο καθιστάτε πολύ πιο εύκολη την επεξεργασία της υποβολής σας)

Λίγα λόγια για το The Curated Fridge
Η ιδέα πίσω από το έργο «The Curated Fridge» είναι να γιορτάσουμε τη καλλιτεχνική φωτογραφία και να συνδέσουμε φωτογράφους από όλο τον κόσμο. Υπάρχει ένας φιλοξενούμενος επιμελητής για κάθε έκθεση και όλες οι μεγάλες αποφάσεις λαμβάνονται πάνω από μια κούπα καφέ με κέικ ή κρασί με τάπας, ανάλογα με τη διάθεση!
Το μόνο που έχετε να κάνετε είναι να στείλετε τα έργα σας ή τα διαφημιστικά σας και μπορεί να καταλήξετε πάνω στο ψυγείο. Οι εκθέσεις στο ψυγείο πραγματοποιούνται σε τριμηνιαία βάση. Για περισσότερες πληροφορίες σχετικά με τον τρόπο υποβολής, ανατρέξτε στην Πρόσκληση για Συμμετοχή.
Μην ξεχνάτε ότι το The Curated Fridge θα κάνει ό,τι μπορεί για να προωθήσει την εργασία σας και να σας συνδέσει με ένα ευρύτερο κοινό. Ο Γιώργος Ευθυμιάδης είναι καλλιτέχνης / επιμελητής από την Ελλάδα που διαμένει στο Somerville, MA και μέλος του διοικητικού συμβουλίου του Συμβουλίου Τεχνών του Somerville (Somerville Arts Council). Ήταν φιναλίστ του Critical Mass το 2018, φιναλίστ για την υποτροφία Πολιτιστικού Συμβουλίου της Μασαχουσέτης (Massachusetts Cultural Council Fellowship) το 2017 και νικητής του βραβείου ανερχόμενου καλλιτέχνη του Ιδρύματος St. Botolph Club το 2017.
Έχει κάνει εκθέσεις σε εθνικό και διεθνές επίπεδο και εκπροσωπείται από την Gallery Kayafas, 450 Harrison Avenue # 37, Boston.
Το 2015 δημιούργησε μια γκαλερί στη δική του κουζίνα, με τίτλο The Curated Fridge (Crusade for Art Engagement Grant Finalist, Νικητής Λαϊκής Ψηφοφορίας).

Τhe Curated Fridge – Call for Entrée
The Curated Fridge Spring 2021 call is here, and it’s a big one! The refrigrecurators are the multi-talented Jon Feinstein and Roula Seikaly, from Humble Arts Foundation!
Roula Seikaly is an American of Palestinian descent, an independent curator and writer, and Senior Editor + Co-Curatorial Director at Humble Arts Foundation. Roula has curated exhibitions at SF Camerawork and SOMArts (San Francisco), Axis Gallery (Sacramento), Filter Photo Festival (Chicago), CPAC (Denver), Blue Sky Gallery (Portland), and the Utah Museum of Fine Arts. Her writing is published virtually and in print at Hyperallergic, Photograph, BOMB, Afterimage, Aperture, Strange Fire Collective, and KQED Arts.
Jon Feinstein is a Jewish-American photographer, curator, writer, co-founder of Humble Arts Foundation, Content Director at The Luupe, and Artist Advocate for Olu Company. Jon has curated numerous exhibitions over 15+ years at Blue Sky Gallery, PDX; The Ogden Museum in New Orleans for PhotoNola; Glassbox, Seattle; and Barclays Arena in Brooklyn, NY for ArtBridge. His projects have been featured in Aperture, NY Times, BBC, VICE, The New Yorker, Hyperallergic, and Feature Shoot, and he’s contributed to VICE, Hyperallergic, Aperture, Photograph, TIME, Slate, GOOD, Daylight, Adobe, and PDN.

Theme: “Diaspora Studies”
Diaspora describes scattered populations whose origins lie in separate geographies, dispersed from their indigenous territories. Historically, and to this day, it frames both the Jewish people fleeing persecution throughout Europe and beyond, and people of African descent who were traumatically displaced by the trans-Atlantic slave trade. It also extends to Palestinians in 1948 and 1967, Native Americans, Tutsi Rwandans fleeing genocide, Armenians, Rohingyas in Myanmar, and countless other peoples.
Diaspora can also take on a wider meaning, pointing to the myriad ways dispersal causes cultural shifts, how people maintain heritage, joy, and tradition in spite of scattering and trauma, and the complexity of identifying with a “homeland” while living outside of it. For this open call, we’d like to see work that responds to these many meanings and experiences.
Guidelines:
* Open to all photographers world wide, both amateur and professional. All mediums are invited.
* You can submit up to 5 images. As always, the submission is FREE!
* Accepted images will be posted on The Curated Fridge website and social media.
*Email the jpgs of the submitted files to: thecuratedfridge_at_gmail_dot_com
* Image specifications: 1280 on the longest side, 72 ppi, sRGB, .jpg
* Name your .jpgs like this: Mary_Jones_1, Mary_Jones_2 etc…
* Please, do not send .zip files
* Finally include your name, email, website and instagram handle following the example below (makes it so much easier when processing your submission)

The Curated Fridge
The idea behind this project is to celebrate fine art photography and connect photographers from around the world. There is a guest curator for every show and all the big decisions are made over coffee and cake or wine and tapas, depending on the mood!
All you have to do is send your artwork or promos and you might end up on the fridge. The Fridge Shows run on a quarterly basis. For more info about how to submit check the Call for Entrée.
Don’t forget that The Curated Fridge will do its best to promote your work and connect you with a wider audience. If your work was selected to be included in a Fridge Show, you can send your news (shows/publications) and they will be posted on The Curated Fridge Facebook page!
All you have to do is send a jpg (of the participating image), the date, time, location and name of the show, and a link (if any).

The Curated Fridge is the brainchild of Yorgos Efthymiadis.
Yorgos Efthymiadis is an artist/curator from Greece who resides in Somerville, MA, and a board member of Somerville Arts Council. He was a Critical Mass finalist in 2018, a finalist for the 2017 Massachusetts Cultural Council Fellowship, and a recipient of the St. Botolph Club Foundation 2017 Emerging Artist Award.
He has exhibited nationally and internationally and is represented by Gallery Kayafas, 450 Harrison Avenue #37, Boston.
In 2015 he created a gallery in his own kitchen, titled The Curated Fridge (Crusade for Art Engagement Grant Finalist, Winner of the Popular Vote). The idea behind this project is to celebrate fine art photography and connect photographers around the world. There is a guest curator for every show which run on a quarterly basis, free of charge.
