Αλεξάνδρα Ρίμπα – Between cities and skies
Όταν δύει ο ήλιος, σηκώνω το κεφάλι μου καθώς ακούω τον ήχο των πουλιών που πετούν ανάμεσα στις πολυκατοικίες. Είχα προσέξει ότι αυτή τη συγκεκριμένη ώρα, τα πουλιά αρχίζουν να μιλούν. Υπάρχει πολύς θόρυβος πάνω από την πόλη. Όμως κάτι διαφορετικό συνέβη τις προάλλες. Άκουσα έναν θόρυβο από το απέναντι μπαλκόνι. Είδα ότι ένα πουλί είχε παγιδευτεί και ο φίλος του προσπαθούσε να το σώσει. Κάλυπτε τις φωνές όλων των άλλων πουλιών στον ουρανό. Προσπάθησα να τα βοηθήσω μα δεν μπορούσα. Τότε σε είδα μέσα από το παράθυρο. Η καρδιά μου χτυπούσε γρήγορα, σαν ενός πουλιού που έχει πιαστεί από άνθρωπο και είναι κατατρομαγμένο. Σου φώναξα αλλά δεν με άκουσες. Σου άφησα ένα σημείωμα. Έχεις φύγει. Ακόμα έχω το σημείωμα. Υπάρχει ένα μέρος μεταξύ πόλεων και ουρανών. Μου αρέσει να πηγαίνω εκεί ξανά και ξανά. Από εκεί τα πουλιά ξεκινούν να πετούν πάνω από τις πόλεις. Είμαστε όλοι τόσο ίδιοι και τόσο διαφορετικοί κάτω από τον ίδιο ουρανό. Την πρώτη εποχή των ραντάρ η ηχώ πολλών, μικρών στόχων συλλαμβάνονταν αλλά ήταν ανεπαρκώς κατανοητή. Αυτοί οι ήχοι αποκαλούνταν «άγγελοι». Τώρα, γνωρίζουμε ότι οι άγγελοι ήταν στην πραγματικότητα πουλιά. Αυτό το πρότζεκτ είναι αφιερωμένο στους «αγγέλους» μου.

Bio
Η Αλεξάνδρα Ρίμπα (γεν. 1997) είναι φωτογράφος/διευθύντρια φωτογραφίας. Απόφοιτη του Τμήματος Κινηματογράφου του ΑΠΘ και της σχολής σύγχρονης φωτογραφίας Stereosis. Η πρώτη της ατομική έκθεση με τίτλο “Between Cities and Skies” αποτέλεσε μέρος της Thessaloniki PhotoBiennale 2023. Έχει εκθέσει φωτογραφίες της σε σημαντικούς χώρους τέχνης στην Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό. Υπογράφει τη διεύθυνση φωτογραφίας στην ταινία “Το Χάος που Άφησε Πίσω της” του Νίκου Κολιούκου—2ο Βραβείο La Cinef, Φεστιβάλ Καννών 2024,στην ταινία “Η Μητέρα μου είναι Αγία” του Σύλλα Τζουμέρκα—Φεστιβάλ Λοκάρνο 2023 κ.α. Στο θέατρο έχει συνεργαστεί με παραγωγές του Φεστιβάλ Αθηνών και Επιδαύρου, του Ιδρύματος Ωνάση και του Κρατικού Θεάτρου Βορείου Ελλάδος.

Alexandra Riba – Between cities and skies
When the sun goes down, I raise my head as I hear the sound of birds flying between the apartment buildings. I had noticed that at this specific time, birds start talking. There is a lot of noise over the city. But something different happened the other day. I heard a noise from the opposite balcony. I saw that a bird was trapped and his friend was trying to save it. It covered the voices of all the other birds in the sky. I tried to help them but I could not. Then I saw you through the window. My heart was beating fast, like a bird’s that has been caught by a human and it is very scared. I shouted at you but you did not hear. I left you a note. You are gone. I still have the note. There is a place between cities and the skies. I like going there again and again. From this place the birds begin to fly over the cities. We are all so much the same and so different under the same sky. In the early days of radar, echoes of many, small targets were seen but poorly understood. These echoes were called “angels”. Now, we know that the angels were actually birds. This project is dedicated to my “angels”.

Bio
Alexandra Riba is a photographer/cinematographer born (1997) in Thessaloniki, Greece. She is a graduate of the School of Film Studies at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She has studied contemporary photography in Stereosis school of photography. Her first solo exhibition, “Between Cities and Skies”, was part of the Thessaloniki PhotoBiennale 2023. She has also exhibited her photographs in important art spaces in Greece and abroad. As a cinematographer, she has worked on several films, including collaborations with director Nikos Kolioukos on the short film “The Chaos She Left Behind” (official selection Festival de Cannes 2024 – 2nd Prize La Cinef) and with Syllas Tzoumerkas on “My Mother is a Saint” (official selection Locarno Film Festival 2023 – Pardi di Domani). In theatre she has worked in productions at Athens Epidaurus Festival, Onassis Stegi Foundation, National Theatre of Northern Greece.
