Arja Heinonen-Riganas – Into The Silence
Ψάχνω λίγη σιωπή στην μεγαλούπολη. Περπατάω πολλά χιλιόμετρα, κάνω πολλές βόλτες στο κέντρο και στις γειτονιές.
Πώς να τη βρω; Μια πόλη έχει πάντα φασαρία. Έχει φωνές, κορναρίσματα, άγχος. Τα κινητά χτυπούν, και όλοι τρέχουν να προλάβουν κάτι.
Σιγά σιγά όμως, αρχίζω να παρατηρώ τις βιτρίνες των καταστημάτων. Ανάμεσα στις αντανακλάσεις και τις αφίσες βρίσκω κάτι διαφορετικό, μια ανάσα. Ο χρόνος έχει σταματήσει. Οι κούκλες έχουν παγώσει και δεν περιμένουν τίποτα από εμένα. Δεν ρωτάνε, ούτε απαντάνε. Με αφήνουν απλώς να υπάρχω.
Σε αυτή τη σιωπή νιώθω ήρεμη. Ένα μικρό διάλειμμα, μέσα σε μια πόλη που δεν κοιμάται ποτέ.
Bio
Η Arja Heinonen Riganas γεννήθηκε και μεγάλωσε στη Φινλανδία. Μετά το λύκειο, σπούδασε μάρκετινγκ σε σχολή επιχειρήσεων και μετά τις σπουδές της μετακόμισε στην Αθήνα, όπου ζει μέχρι και σήμερα. Εργάζεται σε μια φινλανδική εταιρεία διαχείρισης ακινήτων και είναι ερασιτέχνης φωτογράφος από το 2017.
Έχει παρακολουθήσει σεμινάρια φωτογραφίας από το 2017, καθώς και μερικά εργαστήρια φωτογραφίας. Από το 2021 παρακολουθεί σεμινάρια φωτογραφίας δρόμου με τον Ανδρέα Καμουτσή. Έχει συμμετάσχει σε αρκετές ομαδικές εκθέσεις φωτογραφίας, τόσο στην Ελλάδα όσο και στο εξωτερικό. Ορισμένες από τις φωτογραφίες της έχουν δημοσιευτεί σε έντυπα και διαδικτυακά περιοδικά. Έχει κερδίσει το τρίτο βραβείο του βιβλιοπωλείου Ιανός στον διαγωνισμό φωτογραφίας 2022 “Το Ρούχο” και το δεύτερο βραβείο στον διαγωνισμό “Your Best Photo 2024” του περιοδικού Phοtonet (Nexus Media). Είναι μία από τους νικητές/νικήτριες του διεθνούς διαγωνισμού “The Wall 2024” της Φωτογραφικής Εταιρείας Κύπρου. Είναι μέλος της Women Street Photographers από το 2021, όταν διακρίθηκε ανάμεσα στους 50 φιναλίστ της inaugural virtual exhibition.
Πάντα κουβαλάει τη φωτογραφική της μηχανή μαζί της, καθώς ποτέ δεν ξέρει πού κρύβεται η επόμενη φωτογραφία.

I am searching for a little silence in the big city. I walk many kilometers, taking long strolls in the center and the neighborhoods.
How can I find it? A city is always noisy. There are voices, honking horns, stress. Cell phones ring, and everyone rushes to catch up with something.
Slowly, however, I begin to notice the shop windows. Among the reflections and posters, I find something different, a breath of fresh air. Time has stopped. The mannequins are frozen and expect nothing from me. They don’t ask questions or answer. They just let me be.
In this silence, I feel calm. A short break in a city that never sleeps
Bio
Arja Heinonen Riganas was born and raised in Finland. After high school, she studied marketing at a business school and then moved to Athens, where she still lives today. She works for a Finnish real estate management company and has been an amateur photographer since 2017.
She has attended photography seminars since 2017, as well as several photography workshops. Since 2021, she has been attending street photography seminars with Andreas Kamoutsis. She has participated in several group photography exhibitions, both in Greece and abroad. Some of her photographs have been published in print and online magazines. She won third prize in the Ianos bookstore’s 2022 photography competition “The Clothing” and second prize in the “Your Best Photo 2024” competition organized by Phοtonet magazine (Nexus Media). She is one of the winners of the Cyprus Photographic Society’s international competition “The Wall 2024.” She has been a member of Women Street Photographers since 2021, when she was selected as one of the 50 finalists of the inaugural virtual exhibition.
She always carries her camera with her, as she never knows where the next photo opportunity might be.
